This is Why I Do What I Do

I showed up at school yesterday for the first time since June 11th. (sigh)  I showed up with my big bag of goodies that I have been collecting over the summer and when I arrived at school I was lost.  I didn't know where to start and to be honest I really just didn't want to start.  I teach in Michigan where we are held to starting school after Labor day which of course, means we get out halfway through June...where was I going with that??? Oh yes!  Work!  I digress...

Anyways, I ended up working on a window project that I've been meaning to for, oh, um....4 years now.  We were granted a Beautiful....Brand new....building four years ago.  Every classroom has one whole wall of windows...huge windows...great light...And since my old classroom in our other building was literally a converted CLOSET, windows were such a step-up.

So when I got my new classroom assignment and it was moving day, I was so excited to see my view.  The upstairs classrooms have views of Lake Huron, and from most of the downstairs classrooms you see flowers and trees...Here's my view!

Yep!  You see right.  I face a wall.  There are THREE rooms in the building that do not have a view and probability wins again.  I get a wall.  Oh, and did I mention what I see out the other window...
Are you ready for this?

The fire department.  mmmm hmmmmm!  That's right.  We hear every test, see every flashing light, and every time kids turn things in on the ledge, they have to stop and take a peak....super annoying.  Anyways, I digress again.

Originally I thought about a simple curtain but changed my mind in hopes to someday have a different view (fingers crossed)   I purchased  sentence strip charts at the Target One Spot and using suction cup hooks found at the dollar store I made a little reminder to myself of why I do what I do.

I placed all of my student's senior pictures that I have from over the years in the pockets and they fit perfect.

And now I have a great reason to look at the windows...I have a reminder of many success stories!
